Greeting

The Intercultural Performing Arts Studio in Japan was born subsequent to the Great Northeast Japan Earthquake in July 2011 to promote world peace & regional vigor through the performing arts. It serves as a venue for creation of works in support of cultural exchange productions by artists that go beyond the bounds of genre and nationality. We carry out activities for the purpose of conveying the beauty of the culture of the past and contributing to information education, through planning and production of works, including stage arts, image and music presentations on the subjects of hometown history, customs, and culture.

In the following year, in a most timely manner, UNESCO designated “Washoku, the traditional food culture of Japan” as a World Heritage. This brought the spotlight on our traditional food culture as the pride of the entire world. In the context of the same art culture genre, we can discover the zenith of beauty in our traditional performing arts, including Noh, Kyogen, Japanese classical dance, etc. that surprises the whole world.

We are assiduously training ourselves in those traditions, under the conviction that passing them on to future generations is the very key to revival of Japan, carrying out our creative activities from a contemporary viewpoint, mainly in the stage arts, to send out our message throughout Japan and all the rest of the world.
